Perfect Choice for Boy's Shades

Last week, I asked readers to cast their votes on Instagram and Facebook about their favorite fabric selection for roman shades for my son's bedroom.  (Recall here).

Today, I'm revealing my selection:

Choice #3!

Here's my thought process behind the decision:

I'm usually all about color!  (For proof, visit some of the rooms in my house).  Initially, I loved that the multi-colored fabric had all of the colors from the vintage map wallpaper.  But it felt too childish for me.  My son is seven now, but I wanted something that felt a bit more grown up and mature.

I toyed back and forth between option 2 and 3.  I loved the light linen feeling to option 2.  It appropriately tied in the beige and grey tones in both papers.  But, in the end, the last choice seemed to make the same connection in a more bold and masculine way.  The fabric is going to sit directly on top of the vintage map paper and choice #3 seemed to represent itself the best!

I have been on a massive house project frenzy the last few weeks.  I have an exciting event happening at my house at the end of May and I'm eagerly trying to prepare.

I've been making over my son and daughter's rooms (some sneak peaks available on instagram).

Check back soon for more updates on these projects!

One Room Challenge Linking Participant

Ya'll, I can't tell you what a rat race these last few weeks have been...But, I've been secretly been preparing for something spectacular behind the scenes.

You may have heard me talk about the One Room Challenge in previous years.  If not, please visit  here (2013) and here (2012).

This fabulous challenge is the mastermind of Linda from Calling it Home.  She created the "One Room Challenge" and invites 20 bloggers (made up of Professional Designers, Diy'ers, and Interior Design Bloggers) to embark on a 6 week challenge to transform one room of their choice from start to finish.  Each week, each designer reveals their progress on the room on their blog.  You get to follow the progress that leads up to a final reveal.  And let me tell you, the results are breath-taking.

Well, this year, Linda is opening this challenge up to ANYONE that would like to partake.   That's right, anyone can decide to redo a room and link to her blog each week as  "linking participant" to the ORC.   And the best news of all?

Vivid Hue Home will be participating as a Linking Participant this year!

I'm thrilled for the opportunity to participate!
More details here

On October 2 Linda kicks off the official One Room Challenge on her blog, Calling It Home.

On October 3 Linda invites anyone who wants to link up their own room transformation to join in.  Check back in on the progress each week to see all of the 20 bloggers AND the linking participants!

More details can be found here.

I'm so excited to be doing this...I have a few ideas for my room transformation already up my sleeve!  Now if only I can pull these off within the time frame!  Thanks to Linda for giving us the opportunity to all join in this year!

Cheers!
