ORC Updates to Guest Room

Earlier this year, I made a major update to my guest bedroom.  Ya'll may recall that this was the room I selected to makeover for the Calling It Home One Room Challenge.   And my initial reveal for this room showed a Bohemian Chic meets Hollywood Regency transformation

The room went from a basic gray drab palette to dark navy walls (Sherwin William's SW6510 Loyal Blue) and a turquoise striped ceiling with a sputnik chandelier.  I loved the update, but I could never quite get the DIY turquoise ceiling stripes out of my head.  They were fun and daring but cheaply executed (by me).  I immediately embarked on my next mission of replacing those darned stripes with a more professional finish.  (aka, had to find the wallpaper of my dreams and then convince the husband to pay for the stuff).  Below, I'll take you through the latest transformation with this room.

And voila!  Here's the latest.  I fell in love with Meg Braff's Roxy print.  (I'm a huge Meg Braff fan and have her 'Up In a Tree' Kelly Green paper in my mudroom, here).  The paper definitely gives a much more professionally decorated look to the room.

I also swapped out the previous sear sucker duvet for Trina Turk's Huntington Stripe Duvet

And added a few additional throw pillows for some pop.

A little reminder of Kennebunkport... (See why I love this place so much here).

What are your thoughts about this room?  What do you love?  What do you hate?  Do you think my guests will have a hard time falling to sleep at night?  Any changes you'd make to this room?
I'd love to hear your feedback!

DIY Crayola Art- Teacher Gifts

It's the end of the school year and that means time for teacher appreciation gifts.  Each year for the past several years, we have been making crayon art for the teachers.  This year, we did the same and added a fancy colorful background.

I have the kids write their teacher's name , e.g. "M is for Mrs. McKinney" and sign it.
This year we had a handful of "m" teacher's to thank!

I use an exacto knife to trim the crayons and a hot glue gun to secure them to the paper.  I let the kids arrange them on the page in the color order they desire.  They write a hand written thank you note to accompany the gift.

What do you do for end of the year favors?  There are so many great ideas on pinterest.  Please share some of your favorites!

Happy summer!

Just for fun, here's a flash back to where this room started:
