House Tour: Master Bedroom

Today I am sharing updated photos of my master bedroom.  A few months ago, I replaced my headboard with the Serena & Lily Pondicherry bed.  I was drawn to the ultra high headboard ( 75" tall).  I am still making updates to the room but this is leaps and bounds from where I started.  For a glimpse at before photos, see the links at the bottom of this post.

The Peacock Tree in the study has been featured in the "Pretty Christmas Tree" series  by Lia Wiedemann on iVillage.

Lia writes, "Interior designers and bloggers share the inspiration behind these gorgeous trees..."
I was thrilled that Vivid Hue Home was featured in this spread among many wonderful designers, including Emily Clark, Furbishstudio , Traci Zeller, Centsational Girl, and more!

Here's a sneak peak at a few of the trees.  Go here to see all of them.

DIY Homemade Countdown Calendar

I was inspired by the December 2012 issue of Better Home & Gardens where Maria Carr displayed a homemade countdown calendar in her home.  She used fallen birch branches from her yard as support then stamped numbers 1-24 onto muslin bags and tied them onto the branches.   I decided to do my own rendition of the countdown calendar...
(Maria's calendar here):

(Vivid Hue Home calendar here):

Here are the steps I used to create my calendar.  While Maria used wonderful birch branches from her fabulous farmhouse yard, I found this structure already built for my from my local Home Goods store for $10 bucks.

I had originally stamped little envelopes from the craft store because I couldn't locate the muslin bags.  I wasn't happy with the end result---The envelopes were too large and didn't have enough oomph

So, I made these smaller cards from Target stationery....and yes, I put those stamps from Napa to use again.

In full disclosure, these aren't little bags full of goodies...but I could put an inspirational message on the back of each day.   For now, it's home is in my sunroom

Fuzzy Photo Napa Fun

It has taken me a good few weeks to recover from my fabulous trip to Napa.  (Recall here and here).  It was everything I had hoped it would be!  I am still waiting for the photos from our photog, Matt, to come back from the 'Big Party' on Friday night so I've tried to hold off from sharing too much before the good pics arrive.   But, I thought I'd share a few of the fuzzy photos from my iPhone to give you a sneak peek of what the night entailed...

Of course we had a chance to make it to a few wineries in the midst of the big party celebration.  Here's we are in front of Opus One Vineyard (my brother-in-law, Michael; me, my husband, and my preggo sister Brett...aka Kurby!)

Here I am with my pal Nicole starting off our tour of vineyards on Saturday at Mumm.

As soon as I get my photos back from Matt Edge, I promise I will share them!  I had him take a ton of the venue from Friday night so I could share them.

Hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Shhhh....the holidays are in the air

Yes, I despise the department stores that put up their Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving.  I can't stand to hear jingle bells in the craft store isle while I'm picking out my Halloween pumpkins.  And yet, this year, I have decided to get a jump start on decorating.  We are heading to Boston for Thanksgiving and I know that after next week Christmas will be here before I turn around twice.   And I'm hosting my entire family this year.  On both sides.  So I have cheated a bit and pulled up some of the decorations from the basement to get a jump start.  I promise I'm not actually going to turn the tree lights on until after turkey day.  Shhhhhhh.....don't tell anyone, but this is what's happening in our Vivid Hue Home so far for the holidays....
