Guest Contributor- My sister, Kurby (aka Brett)

Hi, My name is Brett but you've probably figured out by now that my sister Heather, of Vivid Hue Home, calls me Kurby.  That's how she refers to me in every single post where I'm mentioned.  There's a story to that nick name.  Maybe she'll reveal it one day.  But until then, here's more about me:

I grew up in McLean, VA -a tomboy in my youth who loved running barefoot in the summer grass, swimming until my hair turned green and chasing lighting bugs well into the night.

Somewhere between 4th and 5th grade a shift occurred in my outlook on clothes and what they meant to me.   I was in awe of the sweater wall in Benetton and often begged to borrowed my sister’s sweaters  - a complete victory when she actually let me and always felt like a million bucks.

I have had many styles over the years. Did the doc martin thing in high school… oye

Which could often be seen accompanied with this-

These:

And this on top:

Complete with one of these- yes that is a biker jacket people and I bet my parents were glad to see this style pass.

Next stop on the fashion train came during my time at Versace, where I worked as a sales associate. It was the life. And pretty much everything in my wardrobe looked like this…

Through all of this I have landed here.

I am a classic base with a few surprises – not only do I swoon over this room, but I think she is nailing it in this outfit.

Outside of my love for clothes, handbags and interior design you should also know the following:

I obsess over gwyneth… hello who wouldn’t?

I cried when I saw Madonna in concert

I love to people watch – airports are the best for that

I have to admit – I may silently judge you if you have a French pedi that looks like this …

Know that the most important things in life are health, family and friends

And of course scoring a great deal at a sale!

I believe in good food, great friends and not letting a glass run empty.

I believe in manners…

But I am not afraid to have fun!

My sister (Vivid Hue) is my best friend –  we can have complete conversations without saying one word.

I like my man to be smart and handsome.  I scored on both. Lucky me.

My son is my biggest accomplishment and has the best sense of humor.

xoxoxo,
Brett

We still love those classic navy stripes, but those Doc Martins and that metallic Versace jacket are still packed away just in case you ever feel the desire for vintage.-:)

Great job on the guest blog, Baby B. We look forward to many more in the future.
Love you,
Mom
