5 Themes from "Runway to Home"

High Point Market's Fall Market is right around the corner, October 13-18th!  Interior designers, industry leaders and style spotters will be abound to let us know what's in store for our design future.  The focus is fashion and we are well aware that there is a close-knit relationship between the two.  (Recall my guest blog on Little Black Door here or the Connecticut Fashion Night Out here). 

 

 

Well, Gretchen Aubuchon is at it again!  She's the founder and editor in chief of Fashion + Decor.  She is also a special correspondent with High Point Market and she was a staple at the New York's Fashion Week.  Gretchen spent her time spotting trends on the runway that she thinks will transcend into our homes. 

 

 

High Point Market released an article where Gretchen identified five couture trends she believes we'll soon be seeing in our coveted living spaces!   Check them out.

Prep for 2012 High Point Market!

If CR Laine isn't on your radar, it should be!  It was CR Laine's bold patterns and colors that initially caught my attention.  Yes, you've heard me say I love a good mix of patterns, but check out that Illiad chair  from Zinc door...and the Nanjiing Jade chair- talk about Chinoiserie at it's finest! 

CR Laine furniture mixes such wonderfully classic form with bold statements of leather and textile.  I just can't get enough.  I am sure you' ve probably come across some of their fabulous designs without even knowing it.  They've been featured in House Beautiful, Southern Living, Atlanta Homes, Traditional Homes, and more! 

CR Laine started in 1958 as a family owned business and continues to be family run even today!  If you happen to be lucky enough to be going to the 2012 Fall High Point Market, check these guys out!  And say hi to Parker Kennedy, the awesomely talented duo that will be paring their vintage accessories with CR Laine product line at this year's market!

Parker Kennedy Living

Parker Kennedy Living believes that a home should be a reflection of the person that lives there.  It's a designer warehouse and retail showroom located in Atlanta that specializes in one of a kind pieces that are hard to find for your home interior.

Lance Jackson and David Ecton created Parker Kennedy Living two years ago.  I love knowing the history behind a great name (remember Roberta Roller Rabbit) and "Parker" and "Kennedy" are the nicknames of the two founders, combined to create their company name. 

I had the wonderful opportunity of having a facebook chat/introduction with Lance and David this weekend and I instantly fell in love with their Southern hospitality.  These gentleman invited me down to their showroom in Atlanta to check out some of their one of a kind finds.  Believe me, on my next trip South to see Kurby, we will be pulling up to visit these fellows (Parker Kennedy Living is located at 1227 Logan Circle, Atlanta, Georgia).

Currently, by appointment only, Parker Kennedy Living specializes in vintage Hollywood Regency style from Palm Beach (Shout out to my girls!).  They have large warehouses in West Palm where they store their finds until they transport them back to Atlanta to restore.  They buy and restore new life into vintage pieces with classic lines and style.   They carry modern, vintage and antique furniture, original artwork, home accessories, decorative lighting--you name it!

Parker Kennedy Living focuses on vintage resale, interior design and product development.

Parker Kennedy Living is a permanent dealer at Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta (who in ATL doesn't know about Scott's!).  They're in the South Building Isle I-7.   They also sell at Cotswold Marketplace in Charlotte, North Carolina and Slate Interiors in Charlotte. 

And how exciting, they're paring with CR Laine this fall at Highpoint to showcase their vintage case goods and accessories with the CR Laine product line.  (Parker Kennedy debuted at Highpoint in the spring 2012 for the first time ever in the Market Square Antique design center and they sold over 98% of their vintage furniture).  Keep your eye out for these guys!  They've got extreme talent.

Wesley Hall Butterfly Trend

Recently, I wrote a post about the lovely items I discovered on my visit to Home Goods {reference Home Goods' Heaven}.   Among the products that jumped to my attention was the wonderful High Backed Butterfly Settee. 

When I spotted it in the store, it was like seeing an old friend. Only I wasn't quite sure where I knew her from.  Fast forward to this morning.  I was reviewing my folder of images from High Point 2012 when I came across the below: 

Meet the Wesley Hall Bobbin Chairs.  Debuted in High Point, North Carolina this spring.  (High Point in N.C. is to the design world what Fashion Week  in NYC is to the fashion world). 


Wesley Hall used almost the exact same upholstery to debut their bobbin chairs.  That's big.  {And those readers that contacted me about the settee in Home Goods, it's even more reason for you to run back to the store and pick that beauty up for only $499.  It substantiates that this is a great find!}  Also, read more about the butterfly trend in 2012 here!

Wesley Hall is well known in the 'to-the-trade' market for their upscale upholstered furniture. It's unlikely that you'd spot them in your usual stroll through the retail furniture stores. Unless you're at Home Goods, apparently.

Currey & Company Sheds Light onto Rugs

Currey & Company is known for it's artful designs in lighting.  That is until this year's High Point Market in North Carolina.  Several weekends ago, the design company debuted it's first collection of handmade rugs that are inspired by tribal and historical designs.  The collection of eight patterned rugs will be made from durable New Zealand wool and hopes to warm the desires of home decor enthusiasts.   The designs from the initial collection are inspired by Central Asia, including the Currey Khyber Rug

There will be three other Currey collections:  Montauk Moroccan, Vintage American and Currey Industrial.  Just like it's lighting, the Currey Floor Collection promises to offer traditional beauty and quality design.
