Remember those antlers?

Well goodness gracious, where has this month gone?

I gave you a teaser at the beginning of the month about my antlers...and promised ya'll that I'd let you know how I zhushed them up by week's end...well the entire month has almost gone by and I still haven't updated you on these babies.  So here goes.  Most of y'all guessed right...

I made these guys gold to match my bone inlaid tray with the gold handles.  (For now, they're serving as a prop on my holiday table-and I will report more on that later).  Here's a glimpse of what they were before.

It was so easy to paint these antlers that I may have fun when them later and paint the tips another fun color just to mix it up.  Can always paint them back to gold later.

Sorry I've been so radio silence this past week.  The family decided to take a mini vacation to Boston to see a holiday show for the kids, see the grandparents, finish some Xmas shopping (and squeeze in a Killers concert for EG and myself).  We NEVER get a family photo together but managed to get a few together this trip.

(Vivi wasn't feelin it for the first photo, but don't let her fool you...she's a ham at heart.  She shows her true colors by the second photo.  And this is Jack's "dress up" outfit.  It's all we could do to get him out of athletic gear (sweats) and into jeans and a sweater).

Hope you and your families are healthy and enjoying this holiday season together.  I know we've been giving lots and lots and lots of hugs and kisses in lights of recent events.

Lots of hugs to you and yours.

xoxo

'Bones' in the Living Room

Yesterday I revealed that I *recently* celebrated a milestone birthday.  If you missed this reveal, you can read about it here.  Oh please don't bother with wishing me a happy belated birthday.  This celebration was last week and it's hardly over.  I'm not kidding.  My husband and I have big plans for a combined celebration in November and, believe me, you'll hear more about that soon.  But for now, I want to share another great gift that I received

These days, the gifts that I request the most are always home-related.  Of course, I love the hand made artwork from my kids and I really do frame them for my house.  But in addition to those treasures, I can't get enough decor accessories.  I have been longing for this large bone clad serving tray from High Street Market.   It's hard to tell here, but it's inlaid with bone tile and it has brass handles.

And what do ya know?  I received it for my birthday from my parents!  I absolutely love it for it's fine details!  It's a true statement piece and I will have it foreverI put it on my ottoman in my living room.  I found these antlers this summer while antiquing in Kennebunk.  I love them on this tray but think they get a little washed away so I plan to paint them in gold leaf...on a rainy day...so they POP

While we're in the living room, I thought I'd show you a few other additions...I added these antlers to the wall too.  I got into the Adirondack camp-themed decor this summer and though I'd love to completely decorate a room in campy style like this, for now, I've found subtle ways to introduce the style into my home

I've also added a flash of color to the mantle with a little height to the mantle with the flowers and the candlesticks.

A little snippet from a recent party at my house where I used the same flowers in the kitchen

Thank you to my mama and Dewey (my dad) for that kick ass bone tray for my birthday!  I will cherish it forever!  It will be such a staple in my house and i LOVE it!!!

Heya I'm on pinterest too. Check me out here.
