John Robshaw Lavender Love

Ya'll know I'm a huge fan of John Robshaw.  His style is so casually elegant.  So bohemian classy.  Here's more drool about John.  He's gotten serious kudos for his new textile line with Duralee and after spotting the designs, it's no wonder why.   (Check out more at Duralee).

In the spring when John showcased his new spring collection at the Hollywood at Home party, of course, he chose an artistic way to show it off. 

Knowing he'd have to convey his entire collection on a way that visitors could take it all in with one glance, John decided to sew large horizontal panels of each fabric together in strips and adorn them as wallpaper on the showroom walls.  Here are the magnificent results .

I'm loving the lavender. . Loving the pattern.  Loving the creativity.  It's hard to believe that these textiles weren't meant to be hung together (as one) in the same room!

Spaces | Kennebunkport, ME

My dream shop is Spaces | Kennebunkport.  It's where I first discovered John Robshaw bedding.  Every time I visit, I linger in each section of the small store so I can absorb all of the decor accessories.  I pick each item up a hundred times (in my head) and envision where I'd put it in my home.  It's the exact type of shop I would love to open one day (and at the beach no less).

 The John Robshaw bedding is usually an entire half of the store.  I want to sink away into the bedding.  The prints are so colorful and crisp.  I never grow tired of taking in all of the details of the designs.  It's like visiting an art gallery for me.   (Remember ABC Carpet?)

 Love these gurgling fish pitchers.  I almost bought one but then decided that I really like them best when they are all together because they look like art.   I also fell in love with this Jamie Young Hide Mirror.  It's hard to tell from this photo but the mirror perimeter is covered in white faux animal fur.  It's super cool.  But a tad pricey at $700 and I couldn't think of a place to hang this baby in my house, so it stayed at Spaces.

I could really get used to this beach blogging gig...Nothing like sitting outside feeling the beach breeze for inspiration.   (And mama, glad to see you've finally gotten your act together and you're checking this blog daily!  Bout damn time, lady!)

Pondicherry for the Master

I have made an exciting new purchase for the master bedroom. 



Serena and Lily Pondicherry Bed




This is the Serena and Lily Pondicherry Bed with Nailheads. 

I'm obsessed with the super high headboard (75" tall).  When I set out to decorate the master bedroom, I had not intended on getting rid of our Merlot colored headboard.  Now that the furniture has been in there for a few months, I've had time to contemplate a few tweaks and adjustments I'd like to make to the room. 

I spotted an uber tall headboard similar to this one from abcddesign and a light bulb went off in my head...I have never loved those silhouettes I made of my family in the location above the bed.  I would love them on a side wall but just not as a main focal point in the master bedroom.  This Pondicherry headboard will solve that!  There will be no room for anything else on that wall!

And, remember my little trip to Lillian earlier this week?  While I was there, Lynne helped me search the bedding samples and suggested I try this John Robshaw stripe for the bed.

 Envision it with a coverlet or throw on the bottom and lots of colorful pillows.. .I think it may actually be a hit. 


I played around on Olioboard with some ideas. This isn't perfect but will give you an idea of how it may look:

Wow, what a hot mess.  Let me explain this hodge podge...
The x benches are already in the room. The Serena and Lily Charing Cross rug is already there. The pink polka dot print is meant to resemble a colorful throw. I found the patchwork patterned throw on Layla Grayce. I don't know if the colors match but it could add a bit of texture to the bed. (Obviously I would only select one throw, not polka dotted pink and patchwork teal).  The pillows are just place holders to symbolize "color."

Roberta Roller Rabbit

A dear friend of mine from high school recently emailed me to make sure I'd heard about Roberta Roller Rabbit.   She knows my love lust for color and thought I'd appreciate the vibrant colors and patterns (and girl, she was right). 

Roberta Roller Rabbit is a whimsy of fun.  She makes me wanna eat my dessert before dinner.  Splash in a mud puddle in my new shoes. 

A woman after my own heart, Roberta Freymann believes that "every color goes with everything. "  She started her boutiques in the Upper East Side in NYC as her namesake. 

                                 

Her vision was to offer unique finds from her travels all around the globe.  She recognized that there was no other boutique that was offering quite the same variety.  Her stores quickly grew by word of mouth and expanded to the East Hampton's.  In 2006 she opened her first Roberta Roller Rabbit store on Lexington Ave and 73rd. 

 She created the name, Roberta Roller Rabbit, after finding the phrase on a remnant of fabric while travelling in India.  She decided it would represent a character's name in a whimsical fable she made up.  Freyman describes her Beatrix Potter-esque character as "a rabbit in roller boots who goes to the roller disco. Originally, it was going to be a store for kids."  (Roberta Freyman, House Beautiful 2012)

  Well, Roberta Roller Rabbit now represents everything from a fabulous resort-style wear for kids and women (think Hampton's beach cover ups) to home accessories that include duvets, coverlets, placemats, napkins, sheets and more! 

 Her designs include a collection of hand block printed fabrics, a craft perfected over hundred of years by artisans in India. It is a technique used by many fabulous designers (Serena and Lily, John Robshaw among my favorites). The appearance creates an ultra chic bohemian feel. Very inviting and unique.  

Like Audrey Hepburn said, if you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun!

Serena and Lily Great Outdoors

Serena and Lily have expanded their fabulous home collection to include outdoor entertaining.  If you haven't seen their most recent expansion, you've gotta take a peek.  As if we weren't already drooling for spring, get ready to pick yourself up off the floor when you see this new collection! 

I'm smitten by the brilliant blues and crisp whites.  These European bistro chairs are tre chic for an outdoor patio (remember Brett's porch) or an indoor breakfast nook.  The Riviera armchair is a slightly different pattern than the Riviera  sidechair.  What a fabulous expression of style. Coordinating patterns but not matchy-matchy. 

The Corsica linens are ultra bohemian chic.  Truly a work of art, Serena designed this pattern herself to resemble Peacock plumes.  Next, artisans hand carved the print into wood and then the design was hand blocked onto the linens.  (Hand blocking creates exquisite results.  Think John Robshaw).

Serve the appetizers in woven bowls, lined with Corsica linens.  Ice the  chardonnay in the recycled aluminum fresca buckets...

String the patio in these globed piazza lights.  The aluminum tops add pizazz and flair. 

 

Lounge in the sundial chairs around the outside patio.  Accessorize with the all-weather pillows.  Mix and match the fun patterns and colors!

After a day of entertaining, how bout crawling into this fabulously cool hanging rattan chair for a relaxing afternoon read (Fifty Shades, Perhaps?)

Master Bedroom Update

The effort to accessorize my master bedroom continues.  I've previously reported posts on this endeavor (more here).  Now, additional furniture items are in place, including the bedside tables, the x bench ottomans and the fireside chairs.  The bed linens are still a work in progress so don't scrutinize too closely.   (I must update immediately that this headboard has been replaced with the Serena and Lily Pondicherry Headboard.  I have to post an updated photo!!!) 

The bedside tables are Worlds Away studly nightstands in marshmallow.  I love the mirrored tops (as long as the kiddos keep their little fingers from the surface).  The lamps are Worlds Away Powder Blue Pagoda.  The pagoda style is one of my favorites and the soft powder blue brings a nice mellow balance.  My hope is to carry the powder blue color into the duvet piping (picture a white hotel style duvet with powder blue piping ala Serena and Lily). 

I covet a bed with a thousand pillows.  Most of these pillows are place holders, left over from my previous decor, but I plan to refurbish these depending on the duvet. 

There are two fireside chairs with grey velvet fronts.  I love small subtleties in design so I chose a contrasting fabric for the back. 

Each chair has highland court confetti backings (the same fabric as the x bench ottomans).  It's not noticeable unless you walk to the back of the chairs.  I didn't want it to be too "in your face" (there's enough of that in the room, ha!)  The only visible details from the front is the lemon colored contrast welt that frames the chairs. 

Yes, silhouettes are still on the wall.  If I discover a better piece of art work, these may be relegated to a corner hallway or guest bedroom.  For now, this is their home. 

I added these fuchsia faux tulips on the dresser for a pop of color.  The fuchsia pillows on the fireside chairs create a "triangle" of pink.  It's meant to carve a pattern for the eye.  And I have these cool Marrakesh pillows on their way...

You may recall the pink day bed that was originally placed at the foot of the bed...This was entirely too large in scale.  In fact, it was more like the size of a twin bed and it buried the room.  We were able to negotiate a return with Lillian August (thank goodness).

The x benches were originally over by the Worlds Away Studly Dresser.  They didn't serve much of a purpose over there other than adding an additional pop of color (as if the room needed it)

Now, the Lee Industries X Ottoman benches are at the base of the bed.  They're a much better scale for the room.  And though my family misses lounging on the daybed, I continue to try to convince them that fabulous decor is not about comfort, but appearance (OK, just kidding about that.  Mostly). 

And besides, they can still use the benches as a place to reside...

The fireplace is still lonely and needs some attention. 

We've got this fabulous Michelle Armas on the way.  (Remember her from my previous post here).    If you've got a space that needs some color, you should check her out.  She now offers posters of her prints for a very reasonable price and it may give you just the oomph you need for your room.  Of course, originals are available online as well!  Everything for all budgets! 

I'm now on the hunt for a duvet that will compliment the room yet provide a neutral presence in the otherwise sea of vivid hues...(think crisp white with very fine details).
