Maria Barros en Vogue

I have a theory that it's possible to guess how a person decorates their home based upon the way they dress and accessorize themselves.

Take me, for example...today I am wearing green skinny jeans with a navy buffalo check shirt, an orange cardigan with a navy scarf that has white "kisses" all over it and leopard print shoes.  In other words, I'm not one to shy away from mixing colors and patterns and prints in my dress style  and the same transcends in how I decorate my home

Likewise, if a designer has stellar design skills, I would assume that they're probably a pretty savvy dresser.  Yes, I'll admit this topic is going to fall on the "shallow side" for some and I'm making a huge generalization.  Hey, it's all meant in good fun and it's merely based on an observation I've made throughout the years.

Well it turns out, my theory is validated once again with one of my most favorite interior designers, Maria Barros.  It's no secret that I am absolutely in love with Maria Barros and her interior design style (more of Maria here  and here and here) .

Her rooms are so cheerful and fun.  They are so fresh and crisp with a resort-like elegance.   Take a look at Maria's wardrobe style below and you'll find that her personal dress has the same touch of sophisticated, happy chicness.  (BTW, Maria documents her outfits on her instagram almost daily, which provides a fun view into her world!).     I origionally spotted a wonderful view into Maria's closet from Mia Relo'gio's blog on a post called "Maria Barros @ True Inspiration" *
*Mia is a super cool portuguese blogger...check out more here.

What are your thoughts fashion and decor?  Do you notice that your dress and home styles tend to mirror one another?  If you are conservative in how you dress, are you also more hesitant to take risks in your decorating?  Do you tend to be preppy or traditional or daring or trend-setting?

What would you call your decorating and dress style?

I think Maria Barros is incredibly talented. Now I know that she has fantastic personal style as well. I LOVE her wardrobe! And I think you're right about the correlation between a person's house and the way they dress. I'm very traditional with a bit of fun added (basically J.Crew) and that fits with what I like in the house, too. Hadn't thought of it like that before!

Wow, you hit it! Maria's style is stunning, but at the same time FUN. That's hard to pull off, but she does it!
I feel the exact same way when I go to a hair salon for the first time. Maybe a little uppity, but in my opinion, if the stylists look put together and have fabulous hair styles, I'm in!
You are selling yourself!
